On Thursday night, January 8, 600 Rochesterians joined together to express solidarity for Israel and prayers for peace. Our partnership has always been about people connecting to and caring about each other so we can only hope that our support and love reached each of you.

Although we are here in Rochester, our thoughts are with you in Modiin, and any loved ones who are now in the South.
We pray for good news every day, and hope that the sacrifices now being made by our brethren in Israel bring us closer to the peace that we all wish for.
Leslie and I look forward to seeing you in April, when we hope that we will be able to celebrate better times together.
B’shalom,
Howard Crane
Sherry and I wanted to take this opportunity to write all our family in Israel and tell them how much we care about them. The mention of Israel or Gaza prompts us to pay special attention to the news. We understand, so well, the geography and the politics of the situation. This only adds to our worry, but we want you to know that we stand with you at this most difficult time. On a personal note, we want Hila to know that when we see the Jets flying over Gaza, we can’t help but think about Nir. We pray that he will be safe and that his missions will contribute in some small way to bringing a lasting peace to the region. Efrat, thank you for your continuous updates and emails that keep us so connected to you and your family. We want you to know our hearts are with you and if you would like to visit soon, the snow is waiting. To all our friends in Israel, we look forward to hugging and kissing when we get together in April. Let us all pray that calm will return and life can return to normal.
Rick Goldstein
Shalom Chaverim,
Our sincere gratitude for all the teachers in Modi'in, who participate in the Education Bridge, for updating their matched teachers on a daily basis and for the opportunity for Rochester teachers to send you words of support and courage - it is one small way that we can feel your pain, your fear, your uncertainty, and your hopes.  May these days quickly end and may you once again enjoy the sunlight and safety and security that you so deserve.
With warm and endearing affection,
Jan Katz

Thanks for great meetings... December 2007

Kol HaKavod and our thanks for the amazing planning and implementation that went into the recent steering committee meetings in Modi'in. Each of our delegation of 12 marveled at the range of activities - from sharing Shabbat dinners in your homes to Pinat Shorashim and the dedication of Aviva's sculpture; from candle lighting, singing and delicious meals to Akido and thinking more about our cultural similarities and differences; from sharing our work plan across the ocean to intense discussions of our budget.  We all left you exhausted but with smiles on our faces and in our hearts, treasuring the beautiful mezzuot which will serve as a constant reminder of the blessing and power of this Partnership.

I don't know much about the partnership program. However I do know that economic partnerships and networking is a very good way to create strong and ongoing connections.
What do you think? If you agree, maybe you have a good idea as to how to go about it...

As we in rochester begin to celebrate our holiest of days, taking time to reflect on the blessings and challenges of the last year, our thoughts turn to all of our friends in modi'in.  we are inspired to move ahead with you all to create even more links between our communities - teachers, teens, artists, musicians, readers, chefs.  may it be a sweet year - filled with good health and peace...
